Lunar Water Molecule Migration

Modeling and Simulation & Scientific Computing

ABOUT

This project models the migration of water molecules to the poles on the moon. The movement of the particles is based on a combination of modeling choices from Butler et al's paper "Mercury: Full-Disk Radar Images and the Detection and Stability of Ice at the North Pole" and Butler's paper "The Migration of Volatiles on the Surfaces of Mercury and the Moon". More specifically, this model primarily utilizes the asumptions and components of Butler et al's earlier paper, whilst also including the temperature calculation and the launch angle probability density function found in Butler's later paper. The goal for this project was to replicate the benchmark 12% of molecules captured found in Butler et al's paper.
